Well it looks like I stripped my idler gear at the comp on Sat. So I decided since I had the tranny out to replace the slipper clutch with the non-slip version.
ETA. I'm just glad it wasn't my motor which I thought it was.

The gear that the slipper is on??? Havent heard of anyone stripping that one yet. Your a pioneer of gear stripping. If you put the slipper eliminator gear in like I did be prepared to strip worm pinions or burn motors.

I only stripped half of it so the truck would go ok in reverse but not forward LOL. I was reading a bunch of ppl on RCC ran them fine but if YOU are breaking stuff with them I guess I will order replacement parts right away. I thought about going all metal in the tranny but heard that the stainless steel tends to eat pinion gears plus leaving the plastic in gives a cheaper place to break. I guess I need to calm down and not blow my cool next time. I would have been pissed at myself if I had broken this on the 1st course instead of the last. I did break down the tranny to make sure everything else was in good shape. Off Topic: I love the DX3R I swapped the rx from my Losi since it was the nicer DSM2 3100 rx with one of my SCX's and was able to just copy the settings over so I didn't need to mess with EPA's and such for the DIG. How sweet is that?

Ive been running the same stainless spur or idler as you call it ever since I got my losi and shreaded the plastic gear. After all that time it only shows slight signs of wear, and has never chewed a pinion. IMO its a must have.

I will throw the plastic parts in until then. Did you upgrade all the internal gears to metal or just the idle gear. Also just to clarify the idle gear is the one between the pinion and the slipper clutch/gear. Its the big one visible when you remove the motor.

Yeap, we are talking about the same gear, yes. I put the slipper eliminater gear in it, and also did all the aluminum upgrades in the trans. including all aluminum screws, but not the lower trans gears, they are the stock plastic. I even cross drilled the stock plastic dig plates the lighten them, and stretched the springs for better ingagement. I lost over a oz. in the trans.

Well I got it back together and it seems to be running better without the slipper. We will see how it runs this weekend. I also washed my tires to see how my grip does. I still need to install the BEC in my sportsman.

It was in but my drive shaft kept popping off. I fixed it once but only had 2wd for course 3. I'm going to replace them before the next comp.
